Prevention Department The Prevention Department at AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts provides a range of prevention and education activities designed to reduce new HIV infections. We base our work on the following principles:
- HIV prevention must be grounded in public health
- HIV prevention must be targeted to specific populations
- HIV prevention work with high risk populations is best achieved using harm reduction strategies
- We think about individuals and populations
- We focus on change over the long term
- Prevention must be scientifically-based and research driven (and up-to-date)
- Prevention must not be based in shame, guilt, or fear
Our programs work with many different communities, including gay men, communities of color, women, and youth. For more specific information on our programs, click on any of the links above.
