What are the issues?
AIDS Action Committee believes in advocating for fair and effective HIV/AIDS policy at the city, state and federal levels. As advocates, we are focused on four major policy issues impacting HIV/AIDS below:
Prevention, Science & Ideology Effective prevention and education for HIV/AIDS is often controversial. In recent years, prevention has become more ideologically driven even though science-based prevention has been proven effective.
Privacy & Confidentiality Privacy and confidentiality are fundamental concerns for everyone with health concerns, and particularly for people with HIV/AIDS in light of the stigma and taboo that continue to surround it.
Paying for it A patchwork of public programs is available to help people with HIV/AIDS pay for their treatment. |
Policy News
AIDS Action and DPH's Positions on Routine HIV Testing How HIV testing is conducted in the third decade of HIV/AIDS is an important issue that AIDS Action Committee has been paying attention to. Last week, the Department of Public Health issued a clincial advisory recommending that providers incorporate HIV testing as a routine part of primary and urgent medical care and offered guidance about including testing consent into the general consent form patients sign when entering care.
