AIDS Action’s Board of Directors
Michael T. Wong, M.D., President Michael Wong, M.D., Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School on staff in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, was appointed in 2007 by Gov. Deval Patrick as a member of the Massachusetts Public Health Council. In addition to his clinic work, he has nearly 20 years of extensive experience in healthcare policy development and serves as a policy leader for key state and national healthcare issues. He was named Champion in Health Care by the Boston Business Journal in 2004. He also received the “Distinguished Service Award” in 2006 from Washington, DC-based American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM), for which he Co-Chairs its Policy Committee.
William Kelly, Esq., Vice President William Kelly is a partner at Nixon Peabody LLP. His practice focuses on corporate finance and securities, corporations and partnerships, venture capital, and technology law. He has been a long time supporter of AIDS Action Committee and is a Trustee at the Institute of Contemporary Art and an Overseer at the Boston Lyric Orchestra.
Kevin W. Powers, Treasurer Kevin W. Powers is the Director of TeleWeb Channel Marketing for IBM’s Software Division. He is responsible for all web marketing, telemarketing and response and lead management activities for the division. He has also served on the Human Rights Campaign board, and supports several LGBT, community and arts organizations.
Andrew M. Fullem, MSPH, Clerk
Andrew Fullem is a Senior HIV/AIDS Advisor and Co-Director of the John Snow Institute’s World Education Center for HIV and AIDS. He has been the Director and Co-Principal Investigator for the HIV/AIDS Surveillance Program for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. Andrew has an extensive background in research and education in the areas of HIV/AIDS, family health, and family planning at the local, national and international levels.
Cheryl Bartlett, R.N. Cheryl Bartlett, R.N., is a long-time AIDS advocate, administrator and clinician. She has extensive experience in nonprofit settings and is a strong manager and has spearheaded several successful fund-raising initiatives. She has worked actively on several public policy issues and has experience in the political arena. She headed the AIDS Alliance on Nantucket, where she lived for many years, and then ran a social service agency on the Cape where she lives now. She is currently directing a project on Nantucket and other consulting services.
Lisa Cruz
Lisa Cruz is Community Liaison at Tibotec Therapeutics and formerly Associate Director of HIV Education Programs at AIDS Action and Education Outreach Manager at Community Research Initiative of New England (CRI) for more than two years previously. Cruz’s work is dedicated to HIV prevention and education, working with professional associations, patients and clients and the community.
Louis K. Eaton
Louis K. Eaton is Help Desk Analyst for Grand Circle Travel, directing network management, system stability and technical support for 300 users worldwide. He is an African-American gay man active in the faith community, has been involved in the AIDS epidemic for more than 20 years. Eaton helped found a gay men’s health group years ago that today is part of the Multicultural AIDS Coalition (MAC). Eaton has been involved with AAC through the Bayard Rustin Breakfast and as an AIDS Walk Boston Team Captain for Grand Circle Travel. Grand Circle Foundation has been a long-time supporter of AAC as premier Walk sponsor and now as lead sponsor of BE SAFE.
Celia Grant Celia Grant is the Director, Creative and Marketing at the Associated Industries of MA. Celia brings over 20 years of marketing and communications experience to AIDS Action from her years at Houghton Mifflin, Trinity Communications and Downtown Crossing Association. She has also worked with the Madison Park Development Corporation, ACT Roxbury and in the Office of State Senator Dianne Wilkerson.
Shayla Griffin Shayla Griffin is a Pricing Analyst at State Street Corporation. Shayla has volunteered for many local nonprofit organizations, including Rosie’s Place and Community Servings. HIV/AIDS prevention became a passion for Shayla after a childhood friend was diagnosed HIV-positive in 2004, at the age of 21.
Johnnie Hamilton-Mason, Ph.D. Johnnie Hamilton-Mason, Ph.D., is a Professor at Simmons College School of Social Work and teaches Qualitative Research Methods for Ph.D. students, Advanced Clinical Practice, Human Behavior in the Social Environment and Political Strategies and Action for Clinical Social Workers. Before accepting this position in July 2007, she directed the Ph.D. Program there.
Raul Medina
Raul Medina is Corporate Relations and Business Development Manager, Hispanic News Press, publisher of El Planeta, the largest circulation Spanish-language newspaper in New England. Last year, Medina through El Planeta organized a very successful city-wide health fair for the Latino community held at Boston University’s Agganis Arena. Medina is the President Emeritus of the Boston Chapter of the National Society of Hispanic MBAs (NSHMBA).
JT Jacoby
JT Jacoby is Senior Director at Fidelity, having just returned to Boston recently from an overseas, multi-year assignment to India. JT served on the Board up to his departure to India. He spearheaded, along with his fellow AAC Board members, a three-part community project titled “Community Conversations,” which was the precursor to the formation of The MALE Center, a community and wellness center for gay, bi and trans men and a program of AIDS Action Committee.
Wendy E. John
Wendy E. John is the Vice President, Program Manager in Fidelity Investments’ Human Resources Services Company in Marlborough, Massachusetts. In her seven years at Fidelity, Wendy has served in various roles, primarily in Fidelity’s Defined Benefit Actuarial Consulting Group where she most recently served as an Actuarial Consultant and managed a team of six Actuarial Analysts. She also served as the Director of Training for the group and developed and managed their curriculum. In April 2003, she moved into her current role within the Large Plan Services Relationship Management & Service Delivery Unit.
Anne C. Kubik, M.D. Anne Kubik, M.D., is a Board Certified OB/GYN. She was at Winchester Hospital for 8 years. Prior to that, Dr. Kubik was a resident at Boston Medical Center, where she provided care for several HIV positive women, and her work with them had a tremendous impact on her personally. Based on her experience at Boston Medical Center, Dr. Kubik is very interested in the issues of prevention in high-risk youth with a particular interest in urban adolescents. Anne Kubik graduated from Boston University School of Medicine in 1993 and received her Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College in 1987. Dr. Kubik and her husband Michael Krupka live in Lexington with their three children.
Richard T. Larkin
Richard T. Larkin is a senior business executive with 20 years of experience in the banking industry. He has been in corporate lending at Shawmut, Chase, Bank of New England, and FleetBoston, as senior business partner to the Office of Diversity. After transitioning into organizational work, Rick became the Managing Director and Project Leader for Diversity Initiatives for the Whole Sale Bank Division.
Kimba Roger McCant Kimba McCant is a limited partner, and one of the original individuals, who joined RhumbLine at its inception in October 1990. Kim holds a B.S. in Finance (Cum Laude) and an MBA in Finance from Suffolk University in Boston. He has done volunteer work with AIDS Action Committee working with the Bayard Rustin Breakfast Committee for the last five years serving as Co-Chair 2004 and 2005 and prior to that as clerk for a two-year term. In addition, his volunteerism extended to other ASOs in the community, as well as participation and support of Balm of Gilead, Boston’s faith-based events response to the AIDS epidemic. He also has held a finance ministry designation in a community church for over 7 years with a $1 million dollar annual budget.
Bisola Ojikutu, M.D., MPH
Bisola Ojikutu, M.D., M.P.H, is the director of the Office of International Programs of the Division of AIDS at Harvard Medical School and an Infectious Disease Fellow at the Massachusetts General/Brigham and Women's Hospital Program. Dr. Ojikutu served as health education coordinator at Harlem United HIV/AIDS Community Health Center, worked on Capitol Hill as a Health Policy Fellow and assisted in the development of proposals for reform in domestic violence, mental health awareness and welfare. She has spent the last year assisting South Africa in the development of a ground-breaking antiretroviral roll-out plan.
Valerie E. Stone, M.D., MPH Valerie E. Stone, M.D., MPH, is currently the Director of the Primary Care Residency Program and Associate Chief in the General Medicine Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Stone’s overall research focus is on issues of quality of care and access to care for patients with HIV/AIDS, especially those from historically underserved populations.
Thomas Webber
Thomas P. Webber recently retired from the Gillette Company where he served various rolls in Human Resources since 1986, including most recently Vice President of Human Resources, Global Compensation, Benefits and Learning and Development. He has served on various Boards including the Human Resources Leadership Forum and the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). He has also been very involved with the Boston Private Industry Council (PIC). Webber, well-known and highly regarded in Boston’s business community, has been a long-time supporter and major donor to AIDS Action. |
