Event Information

Every year since 1986 our community has gathered on the first Sunday in June for AIDS Walk Boston, an annual grassroots community event benefiting AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts (AAC), New England’s largest and oldest AIDS service organization.

For twenty-four years, thousands of dedicated participants have raised millions to provide funding for AAC’s innovative programs and services that are essential to maintaining the health of individuals living with the disease and preventing the spread of the epidemic. Just as important, the Walk also raises our awareness of the impact HIV/AIDS has on individuals, families and the community at-large, reminding us all that we must work together to stop the spread of HIV.

It is in the spirit of hope and perseverance that we acknowledge our achievements as a community and celebrate as we commemorate the 25th AIDS Walk Boston on Sunday, June 6, 2010.

By walking this year you WILL make a difference in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

What to bring

  • Donations! Bring the cash and checks that you have not mailed in. Put them with your pledge sheet in your personal pledge envelope.
  • Water. We will have water throughout the route but it is always nice to have your own bottle to carry with you and make sure you are hydrated.
  • Snacks. While small munchies will be available at each of the three pit stops and there will be food samples at the Wellness Festival at the end, we do not serve full meals and you may want to bring snacks or a sandwich to keep you going.
  • Sunscreen. Even cloudy mornings can turn into sunny afternoons; make sure to apply or pack sunscreen in the morning.
  • Rain Coat or Extra Layer. Weather in June is constantly changing and mornings can still be a bit chilly, so don’t forget to pack an extra layer or rain jacket.
  • Comfortable Walking Shoes. Make sure that your shoes are broken in and comfortable to walk in; walking 6.2 miles with blisters is never fun.
  • Friends and Family.  Participating with a team makes the whole experience more fun!  Learn more about starting a team.

Please note that bicycles or skateboards are not allowed on the Walk Route.
