| Join us for a discussion on HIV and aging |
On September 14, 2010, AIDS Action Committee will observe National Aging and HIV/AIDS Awareness Day with a community forum at our main offices at 75 Amory Street in Boston. All are welcome to attend the event and learn about challenges facing people living with HIV/AIDS as they age, ways to meet these challenges, and programs currently offered to support seniors infected with, affected by, or at risk for HIV/AIDS. | Rebecca Haag to moderate Ford Hall Forum |

On September 30, AIDS Action Committee's President & CEO, Rebecca Haag, will moderate a Ford Hall Forum panel discussion entitled, "AIDS, Social Justice, and the Politics of Transformation". Panelists will include Kevin Cranston, Dazon Dixon Diallo, Julie Davids, and Guillermo Chacón.
As death from AIDS becomes less common, AIDS service organizations must transform their services and prevention programs to followa more radical approach. Join us for what promises to be a lively and important discussion.
The Ford Hall Forum is free and open to the public. Listening devices available. Handicap accessible.

| White House Releases National AIDS Strategy |

On July 13, 2010 the Obama Administration released the first comprehensive national strategy to fight HIV/AIDS in the US, nearly 30 years after the disease took root.

| HIV Today series back in September |
|
The popular HIV Today educational series will begin again in September at the Cambridge YWCA. Originated by Cambridge Cares About AIDS, the program will now continue as part of AIDS Action Committee's education and outreach work in the Greater Boston area now that the two organizations have merged.
This fall, HIV Today will feature topics such as "The HIV Lifecycle", "Enhancing Access to HIV Support & Care Networks", "Sexy Harm Reduction", and "HIV & Aging". The program is free and open to the public; RSVPs are encouraged.

| An in depth review of the 18th International AIDS Conference |

In an AIDS Action Blog post, Eric Brus, Director of HIV Health Promotion, reviews activity at the 18th International AIDS Conference, which took place July 18-23, 2010 in Vienna, Austria.
Highlights from the conference include the release of groundbreaking studies on microbicide- and HIV medication-based prevention techniques; poverty and other social factors contributing to HIV infection; new treatments; and more.
